Article originally published in the Chillicothe Gazette
Paper City Music is excited to announce the return of the Kopecky Family Band to headline a show at The Majestic Theatre on July 18th. The Nashville based band has been a favorite of the community since their debut appearance last year.
Kopecky Family Band has been compared to the sounds of Fleetwood Mac by The New York Times, featured in USA TODAY, named one of the best Live Acts from Paste Magazine, ranked Best Songs and Artist on the Rise on Amazon, had the World Cafe “Song of the Day”, featured on Yahoo Music, and received many favorable mentions from Rolling Stone, SPIN Magazine, NPR, Huffington Post, Billboard Magazine, MTV, and more! The band also had the opportunity to perform their song “Heartbeat” on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno before the late night host retired from NBC.
Kopecky Family Band is constantly on tour to support their music and passion of live performances. They have had the opportunity to play some of the country’s largest festivals including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Firefly Music Festival, Austin City Limits Music Festival, and SXSW in addition to previously co-headlining a tour with the much adored and Grammy Award Winning “Lumineers”, headlining their own “Kids Raising Kids” Tour, and most recently touring with Switchfoot.
Tickets for the Kopecky Family Band at The Majestic Theatre will go on sale Today, Friday May 2nd, at 7pm at www.papercitymusicfestival.com with ticket prices from $10-$17.
Paper City Music is most noted for it’s anchor event, Paper City Music Festival, held every Labor Day Weekend (Aug. 29-31, 2014) but is no stranger to bringing independent original artists to the Chillicothe area since they debuted a concert series prior to the festival last year. At the start of the year a non-profit organization, Paper City Project, Inc. was formed to help create and sponsor events for the public that promote and develop the arts through means of concerts, workshops, and other events that enhance the cultural awareness of the arts, mainly live music performances. Members of the Paper City team have volunteered with several community organizations and events including, 1st Capital Rotary – 1st Thursdays, Chillicothe Social Society – Chilifest, Camp Cattail Benefit Jam, Rock for Tots, and many more, and they are looking to maintain and expand these relationships under the new organization structure.
2014 is proving to be a busy year in addition to The Majestic Theatre show and the Paper City Music Festival. The organization already had two successful events in February including a fundraising Valentine’s Dinner at Schlegel’s, and a night with Hollis Brown at the Dock at Water that pulled in over 250 attendees on a Friday night with a Level Two Snow Emergency.
The first event for the concert season; Paper City Music Presents: Caught A Ghost is May 9th at the Dock at Water. Caught A Ghost is a new project from Los Angeles songwriter and producer Jesse Nolan featuring kindergarten classmate Stephen Edelstein on drums and sultry vocals and percussions from actress Tessa Thompson. A modern take on blue eyed soul, the tracks feature elements of classic Motown and Stax-Volt compositions with influences from dubstep, 90s rap,and contemporary electronica.
The music of Caught A Ghost may sound familiar to you if you watch Boardwalk Empires or Vampire Diaries. The group has also been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, Nylon Magazine, and just made a recent appearance on Last Call with Carson Daly.
Other major events Paper City Music will be supporting is the 1st Capital Rotary’s 1st Thursdays. These events will feature touring artists and a brand new layout with full stage and production facing down Second Street toward Paint Street with food vendors in the Majestic Court Yard. And thanks to the support from the Majestic Theatre the entertainment will be moved inside the theatre should their be rain.
• June 5 Pizza Fest will host newly signed country artist Clark Manson with guest Crossroad Station, which will be a great preview of these groups before they perform the Ross County Fair Grandstands at this year’s Fair.
• July 3 Wing Fest will return fan favorite Smooth Hound Smith to Chillicothe with guest Shivering Timbers who have been produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys
• Aug 14 Taste of Chillicothe still To Be Announced.
All of these events lead up to Paper City Music Festival, and there are some exciting new things coming this year! The festival lineup will be announced in phases starting in May but rest assured there will be amazing talent including the first ever International band to perform at a Paper City Event, coming from Columbia, South America. Also new this year will be the International Songwriting Competition Acoustic Stage in addition to the Bud Light Music First – Main Stage, and Friday night will feature the Valero Beach Party down by Paint Creek.
